Toss + Purge
We’re tackling the basement and garage here and there these days, trying to clear clutter and free ourselves of having to ever move useless (to us) items ever again. Most items have been donated; I don’t have it in me to take up the space for another year on the slight chance I’d hold a yard sale. But other items. Two in particular. They’ve been thinkers.
Trophies.
I...
Eh! Good Looking Photography Re-launch!
Well, I’ve done it! Through the breakdown of not one, but three computers, plus a jam-packed schedule of shoots and schooling and of, course, PARENTING - the whole emphatic reason I started a work-at-home business - I’ve re-launched my photography studio!
All in all, I’m just really excited! I think I’ve always been an entrepreneur, I just didn’t have an actual...

Cuddle Bug
Isla has been a real cuddle bug for the past week.
There’s been a lot of this.
And this.
And then last night I saw this. We were definitely in a storm, a veritable tornado of teething, sleep disturbances with high chance of whinging.
I think we’re now in the clear, however, the storm passing as soon as it arrived. Last night she slept all the way through like normal, and even...
judiism asked: hi tamara,
question for you - has isla done some modeling? there's a pic of a baby in an article in parents magazine this month that made me double- and triple-take thinking, i swear i've seen this baby before! after a few minutes i was like hmmm i think that's isla!! this feels a tiny bit creepy of me but she *is* gorgeous so i wouldn't be at all surprised if she was...

'Touch it once, do it now' is working!
I am attempting the ‘touch it once’ theory for handling email and tasks. I’m admittedly a little day-dreamy today but my to-do list is frightening post-computer crash. This method of dealing with something and dealing with it *now* is working so far.
This morning I went back to the YMCA for a core strengthening class. It was my first time in that particular class since having...
Hangin' out in the crib
The rest (I know — the *rest* — as if there could be any more!) are over on Mamarazzi with part one of a tutorial for indoor photos but these were my favourites from waking up after this morning’s nap :)
Yay for technical difficulties?!
Just moving into one of my new computers to discover I have CS5 (‘thanks’ would be an understatement, H!)
And I just opened up my notebook filled with all my bookmarks, passwords and account details to discover all three of Isla’s ultrasounds, which I had previously been convinced I had lost in the move.
So, there. Out of my disaster comes a double yay. I’ll take it, with...
Best. Room. Ever.
A black room with white accents, plus a concrete floor? I’m listening.
A black room with white accents, concrete floor, fans and giant silver balloons that you’re to surround yourself in and bat around? Yes, please!
So. Much. (Simple.) Fun.
The gallery attendant was completely gracious allowing us to snap pictures (as long as I didn’t use a flash). Isla was in her...
Warhol here for a good time
I have this strange little relationship with Andy Warhol. I tend to think he as a person is interesting. Not necessarily likable or dislikable, talented or hack, good or evil… you get the idea. Interesting nonetheless. I like his quips and quotes. I find his work habits intriguing, for the most part. Had our circles been timed right, I would have loved to run in them. But his art just...
Campbell, Party of Three
Concrete Sauna
This was my face after Hamish told me he didn’t know where we were. We had been out walking for five hours, the last of which was apparently in an unnecessary circle. To say it was warm would be an understatement. Believe it or not, this parking lot under the bridge was the only place we could catch a (totally gross but still) breeze. We chilled for a moment.
Catching some sweet a/c in...
The Infamous Chef Andy
This is Isla absolutely mesmerized by the infamous Chef Andy at work, preparing the city’s best sushi (so we’re told) at Wholey’s fish market in the Strip District.
This was my dish, a custom roll with each piece in the shape of a heart. It was superb. Best sushi I’ve had this side of Tokyo. We ate it as a picnic lunch near enough of the outside of the city’s...
Morning calisthenics
Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh. Let me just say I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t have a bad impression of it or anything, but it hadn’t exactly been tops on my list of places to visit. With a photography retreat there last week, however, it wasn’t exactly worth avoiding. We had a great time.
And I couldn’t get over the low cost of real estate, and all the yummy hard loft conversions....
Home!
What’di miss?!

Not the best lighting as I had no time but to just grab the camera that was most handy, but holds true to my motto that a quote-unquote bad picture taken yesterday is better than none at all…
Hillside... Yes, Hillside
Isla’s first real festival. And it was Hillside, one of my favourites!
Dancing (and desperate to get her hat off) at the children’s stage, watching The Tabla Guy. She loved it.
Didn’t want to leave.
Brolly for the sun. It. Was. So. Hot. Although the quantity of photos still to come may suggest otherwise, I was quite lazy with the camera… Too hot. Too cumbersome....
Catching up
Gah! Guess where I am?! Well, Pennsylvania. But more importantly, I’m on one of my computers! Reunited. Feels so good.
Today marks day one of our mini getaway of traipsing through the countryside via my photography retreat this coming week.
I have a little blogging, a little work and a little online shopping to finish up so for the next two nights after Isla goes to bed, I won’t...
A little virtual shopping...
Because that’s what I can handle at 10pm, ready to call it a night.
Now, let me preface this with:
a) I feel I have a semi-relevant touch on fashion, both of yester year and tomorrow’s trends, even if my day to day threads don’t necessarily reflect that. I am a mum, you know. We even have our own style of jeans, like boyfriends do, but worse. But I have held a subscription to...
A single sperm has 37.5MB of DNA information in... →
(via ryanfarkas)
On some level, this is rather relevant information for all my mama blogger friends. I can already hear myself in the kitchen tonight making dinner, calling to Hamish, “Hey, did you know…”
Then he’ll ask where I heard it from.
And I’ll say Ryan.
And he’ll say, “Figures.”
Laughing. I mean, why not?!
Wednesday, so far. And it’s 9:09am.
Woke up at 6:45 to hear Isla babbling in her crib, talking to her stuffed toys. Rolled over to let Hamish go grab her (hey, he *likes* to and who am I to stand in the way of his happiness?! huh?!). Heard her stand up and start talking to her reflection in mirror. Realized Hamish was long gone for work because, you know, it’s a workday.
Interrupted...
sadiesmom asked: Hi Tamara! I've been meaning to ask this forever and just keep forgetting (you know, Mommy brain!) Anyways, I see that Isla is wearing a bracelet in all of her photos. I've been wondering as to the story behind the bracelet.. Is it a family heirloom of sorts? Something you purchased for her when she was born? Just curious, as it has always caught my eye. :)
This time last year... (Almost) Early Labour
It’s a ‘happy anniversary’ to our friends married a year ago today! This pic is of a pregnant me (purple dress) outfitting my bestie (blue dress) with a fan that my uber-round self had brought to the outdoor extravaganza.
It was quite the day. It was beautiful, and a truly touching wedding. It was also the most eventful night of my pregnancy, aside from the night I went into...
Time...
It’s very strange not having my main computer. It’s like a fifth limb is missing, or a part of my brain. I haven’t really known what to do with myself…
I know what I *can’t* do. That’s easy. Can’t work, respond to emails at great length, edit photos, or even download them. Can’t do any design work. Can’t access files due to software...
